Power of Attorney

IMG_8969Power of Attorney is a written authorization given by you to a third party, whom you wish to represent yourself. There are two types of PoAs: General and Specific.

For divorce applications a specific PoA is required.

The person you authorize with the PoA can only act according to instructions written in the PoA.

If you are a Foreign National and seeking professional representation for your divorce application you need to follow the steps below.

Step 1: Preparation: Print and fill in the blanks of the Specific PoA prepared for divorce [included in the package],

Step 2: Notarization: Find the nearest Notary Office in your own region and sign the PoA before the Notary Clerk, after you check the facts and after you stick your picture where shown on the PoA (please note that the photo needs to be sealed or signed or stamped by Notary Clerk). Notarization is important to prove that the document is dully executed / signed.

Step 3: Legalization: The Notarized PoA needs to be verified / legalized by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in order to enable it to be used abroad. This also is called as “apostille”. With this legalization/Apostille the document prepared and signed before foreign authorities can be used in Turkey without any problems.

Step 4: Translation: Any document which needs to be served or given to Turkish authorities needs to be in Turkish. At this stage specifically prepared notarized and legalized PoA needs to be officially translated in Turkish language. This can be done in your own country again the translation needs to be notarized and legalized as described above.

If you are a Turkish National  and seeking professional representation for your divorce application you need to follow the steps below.

Step 1: Preparation: Print and fill in the blanks of the Specific PoA prepared for divorce in Turkish [included in the package],

Step 2: Notarization: You need to go to Turkish Consulate General in your country and sign the PoA before the Officer after you check the facts and after you stick your picture where shown on the PoA (please note that the photo needs to be sealed or signed or stamped by the Officer).

You do not need any additional stamp or legalization once you signed the PoA at the Turkish Consulate General.
